By default, The Stanley Parable disallows the use of server cheats with sv_cheats 1, as attempting to do so will take you to The Serious Room. This can be bypassed by replacing the server.dll file in the game's files.
- Download 'server.dll' from this repository (direct link).
- In Steam, right-click The Stanley Parable in your Steam library.
- Hover under 'Manage' and click 'Browse local files'.
- In your newly-opened file explorer window, open 'thestanleyparable', then 'bin'.
- Replace the existing
server.dllfile with your downloaded replacementserver.dll. - Play The Stanley Parable with cheats!
Tip
The Stanley Parable has it's console disabled by default. Here's how to enable it:
- In Steam, right-click The Stanley Parable in your Steam library.
- Click 'Properties...'.
- In the General tab, click the text box under 'Launch Options' and type '
-console'.
The console should now open when you start the game. You can also invoke the console by pressing the `/~ key.
Note
Clipping out-of-bounds with the noclip command may cause the game to crash on certain maps (especially on map1).

This
server.dllcan be used with The Stanley Parable Demonstration, although it is not needed to use server cheats as it's existingserver.dllfile does not block server cheats. ↩ -
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe does not have a console for server cheats as it was made in Unity (unlike The Stanley Parable, which was made in the Source Engine), and thus is not supported. ↩
