button "new messages" to jump to the first new message in a text channel often doesn't appear

Describe the bug

The button "jump to latest" works reliably but the button "jump to unread" to jump to the first new message in a text channel doesn't.
Currently we have to scroll up till we find the marking for the start of the new messages and that can be quite a way.
Sometimes that button shows up, but often it doesn't. Could be connected to how long someone didn't visit a channel.

I don't have the permission to reopen an issue [old issue] so here we are with a new one.
