Sound reactive negative gain & input slider problem on 14.7.1 with INMP441

What happened?

At first a BIG thank you for this project !

Running 14.7.1 with INMP441 on a 16x18 2Dmatrix.
Panel is too near to the speaker (2m) or I listen to too loud music ;-)
I cannot turn down the gain enough, have played with everything
like speaker size, agc, etc, etc...

Found two (potential ?) bugs:

1. in config every negative dialed-in gain value will be reset to 0.
2. in Info screen the sound input slider has no effect, slider moves, but no effect

To Reproduce Bug

1. Config > sound reactive > digital I2S mic INMP441 > gain not accepting negative values
2. On info screen the input slider of input has no effect.

Expected Behavior

1 & 2) Any possible way to further lower the input value of digital microphone

Hi @busy-omega, thanks for your report.

Its true that you can't "gain down" the input value very much in the settings. Actually any "gain" value below 40 is reducing the input gain, but 1 is the lowest possible and its roughly 1/12th of the original input.

Your best chance is to use AGC in "vivid" mode, and set "miclevel" to freeze instead of floating.

AGC utilizes a gain range from 1/20 to around 16x, so it might work better than manual gain.

I'll think about your request a bit, it's true that these microphones are very sensitive but the INMP441 can work up to 110 DB sound pressure, so adding an a priori reduction "de-gain" might be possible.

That's intended behaviour.

The slider can only reduce/enhance the signal by 50%. Most likely this is not enough for your use-case.
